CHARM YOUR WAY TO THE CROWN WITH THESE CUTE HOMECOMING DRESSES

There are only a few days in a woman’s life where they can dress like a royal. Among these special events is homecoming. (Although, we’d like to start a petition for wearing ball gowns any and every day we want.)

While you don’t have to dial up the glam on homecoming, we totally encourage it. And if you’re reading this, you probably think so too!

So let’s find you a cute homecoming dress that’s fit for a queen (accessorizing with crowns is recommended!).

1. Cinderella-inspired

Whenever we see blue gowns with full skirts, we think of Cinderella. And if you’re trying to channel your inner princess for homecoming, then her look is the perfect inspiration.

While homecoming dresses are typically short, you can still pull off Cinderella’s look as long as the skirt flares out. An A-line or babydoll silhouette are both great options.

In terms of fabric, we love tulle for homecoming dresses. It adds volume and bounce to your skirt. (And for this look, that’s important.)

What’s a royal outfit without some sparkling bling? Find a homecoming dress that dons jewels and embellishments. For a blue dress, we recommend silver accents.

With a cute homecoming dress like this one, your accessories can be quite simple.

If your dress is strapless, throw your hair up and wear some shoulder-grazing earrings. If your dress has straps, style your hair in a loosely-curled half-do and keep the jewelry minimal.

2. Modern-day royalty

Looking for a cute, but elegant, homecoming dress? Then you should check out dresses that feature cap sleeves. They fly under the radar, but are incredibly unique and feminine—especially if they’re embroidered.

The British Royals, including Kate Middleton, have been seen rocking these chic sleeves. So for a special event like homecoming, they’re absolutely fitting.

Tulle, lace, sequins, beads—these fabrics and embellishments are great for adding femininity to your look. Pale shades of pink, blue, and yellow, are all cute options for colors.

Worried that a dress “fit for the British Royals” means it’ll be conservative? Don’t forget, most homecoming dresses are short. So throw on a pair of heels to show off your legs and dial up the sexy!

3. Glitter and gold

Jewels, sequins, glitter, and gold, are all quintessential features of royal outfits—which is exactly what you need for your cute homecoming dress.

If you choose a gold dress, keep the embellishments gold as well so it’s not overly flashy. If you want to break up the monochromatic look, pair your dress with a black clutch. Or, you could add a subtle pop of red to your lips and nails.

When it comes to silhouettes, A-line is a go-to of course. But if you want to differentiate your dress from others’, we recommend exploring those with a sweetheart neckline. Showing off your shoulders accentuates an hourglass shape. Plus, a bare collarbone allows you to show off your favorite necklace. (Again, bring on the bling!)

With a gold or champagne-colored dress, we always suggest nude heels—this creates the illusion of longer legs. (And who could say no to that?)

4. Bold and bedazzled

Royals can break the rules too. If you’ve got a bold personality that pushes the boundaries, then we have a cute homecoming dress for you too!

Instead of pale shades and shimmery metals, go for a bold color like purple or red.

Explore other fiery features—like a corset bodice.

And who said jewels need to stay on the crown? We love seeing homecoming dresses with bedazzled waistlines—it’s so captivating! Plus, it cinches and accentuates the waistline. (Pro tip: Jump on any opportunity to create an hourglass shape.)

If you choose a dress with a jeweled belt, then we recommend adding some similar earrings or a necklace to tie the look together. All that sparkle will surely catch some eyes.

Add a smokey eye if you wish, but keep the lip neutral. Let the color of your gown steal the show.
